A drill is the only test of an evacuation plan that means anything.
Under the Fire Safety Order, the responsible person must plan for an emergency and provide staff with fire safety information, instruction and training. In multi-occupied buildings, organising the drill falls to the managing agent.
What we do
Our fire drill consultants attend the property at a prearranged date and time to coordinate the drill. Working alongside the site-based property management team, they observe the evacuation and record how long the building takes to clear. They also observe how people behave, how well the fire marshals perform against the evacuation plan established for the building, and how people are accounted for at the assembly point. Once occupiers return to work, the consultant fully debriefs the fire marshals and the property management team.

Why it matters
A drill produces two things a paper procedure cannot: a real evacuation time, and a record that the drill happened. Both are what an enforcing officer asks for, and the debrief is where fire marshals find out what they actually did rather than what they intended to do.
