An independent audit of the environmental legal register that sits behind an ISO 14001 environmental management system. For organisations already certified, or working towards it, who need to evidence that they have evaluated compliance rather than simply listed the law.
The courses
- Asbestos Awareness. 5 days, in person or virtual. Asbestos use, locations and health impacts; the law on surveys and appointing surveyors, management plans, registers and remedial actions; identification principles; emergency procedures where asbestos is exposed or damaged; and instructing maintenance contractors. For people responsible for sites in purchasing, refurbishment, contractor instruction and day-to-day management.
- Legionella Awareness: hot and cold water systems. 1 day, in person or virtual. What legionella is and how it enters a water system, the illnesses it causes and their symptoms; risk factors and control principles; routine maintenance tests and checks; equipment that helps control it; and what records need to be kept on site. For team members with legionella control responsibilities.
- Legionella Awareness: cooling towers and other high-risk systems. 5 days, in person or virtual. History, growth requirements and health effects of legionella; legislative requirements and ACoP L8 as amended; the roles of property managers, maintenance contractors, water treatment contractors and external assessors; prevention and minimisation principles; and the role of the control scheme for cooling towers.
