Fire Courses Training

Fire Door Inspection Training. 
2 hours, in person.  A short site-based course so your team can complete their own checks between formal surveys. Covers certification and what to do when it cannot be confirmed, acceptable gaps and how to measure them, the role and effectiveness of seals, checking hinges are correct and sufficient, whether doors close properly, and the glass a fire door requires. Delegates receive a certificate of attendance.

Fire Warden and Fire Co-Ordinator. 
0.5 days, in person.  Built around the attendees' own fire emergency plans, with a simulated evacuation and a look at the extinguishers appropriate to different locations. Covers evacuation principles through case studies, the roles and responsibilities of those involved, and the principles of fire and fire prevention. May also cover record management and fire drills, including recommended frequency and dealing with non-conformance. Counts towards CPD.

Seek and Search Training.  2 hours, in person.  For site staff who respond to alarm activations. Covers why a seek and search strategy exists, roles and responsibilities, how to approach a potential fire, how to complete a dynamic risk assessment, when and how to open a door or enter a room, reporting and recording, and handover to the attending Fire Brigade officer in charge. Includes a site walk with an experienced firefighter and an attendance certificate.

Fire door checks became a routine duty for many residential buildings in January 2023. Training your own people to carry out interim checks between formal surveys is the practical way to keep on top of it without commissioning a survey every quarter.

Delivered in person, on your site, using your emergency plans and your building rather than a generic scenario.

The fire door course allows delegates to complete a fire door inspection and issues a certificate of attendance. It does not make them accredited fire door inspectors or assessors, and the copy must say so.
