An independent, structured assessment of how fire safety is planned, organised, controlled, monitored and reviewed across a building, an estate or a whole portfolio. It takes a gap analysis approach and ends in a prioritised route to a proportionate management system.
What we do
Stage 1. Document review.
Desk-based: fire safety policies and management arrangements, organisational structures and accountability, fire risk assessments and their review processes, fire management plans and strategies, training matrices and competence records, planned maintenance and testing regimes, incident and enforcement records, contractor and permit-to-work arrangements, and internal audit processes.
Stage 2. Evaluation.
Assessment against management system principles: leadership and commitment, planning and risk assessment, operational control, competence and training, communication and cooperation, monitoring and auditing, and management review.
Stage 3. Engagement and validation.
Where appropriate: stakeholder interviews, sampling of buildings or management activities, and a check on how fire safety information is communicated and acted on.
Stage 4. Gap analysis.
Findings risk-ranked and turned into a prioritised action plan.

The review is measured against the Fire Safety Order, recognised guidance and management system principles, your own policies, and the operational reality across your buildings. That last one is the point: the focus is on how fire safety is controlled in practice, not on how it is described on paper.
