The Building Safety (Wales) Bill
The Building Safety (Wales) Bill introduces a landmark, all-encompassing safety regime designed to protect residents of shared buildings across Wales, regardless of the building’s height or tenure. Developed in response to the Grenfell Tower tragedy, it sets a new benchmark for transparency, accountability, and resident empowerment in building management.
Guided by three key principles of Safety, Accountability, and Resident Voice,
the Bill ensures that:
- Fire risk assessments are carried out only by qualified professionals, with strict penalties for non-compliance.
- Those managing buildings have clear, legally defined responsibilities for safety.
- Residents have a stronger voice, clear avenues for redress, and the tools to contribute to a safer living environment.
